Rocky Keplinger's association with the fire and rescue service began in 1972 when he joined the volunteer fire company in his community.  Eight years later, he became a career firefighter for the City of Winchester, Virginia.  Because Rocky had an extensive background as a mechanic,  on his days off he could be found performing apparatus repair and service work for fire and rescue companies in the Winchester area.  As time passed, the demand for preventive maintenance services grew in addition to the regular repair work he had been providing.  Over the next six years, Rocky established a reputation for providing excellent repair and maintenance services at a reasonable cost and steadily increased his customer base.  In 1986 Rocky resigned from the City of Winchester and formed Keplinger Repair Service, Inc. to allow him to continue to provide the services that his customers had come to expect, now on a full-time basis. 

Today, Keplinger Repair Service operates a four-bay full service repair facility, and two fully-stocked mobile service trucks which provide on-site repair and maintenance service in many parts of Virginia and eastern West Virginia.  In 1998, Keplinger Repair Service further expanded its customer services and became the exclusive dealer in Virginia for the Smeal Fire Apparatus Company.  We have since become the Virginia representatives for SVI Trucks, allowing us to offer a variety of quality rescue and haz mat vehicles.  Our territory for these companies also includes the West Virginia counties of Berkeley, Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Mineral, Morgan and Pendleton.  2001 was another milestone in the history of Keplinger Repair Service when we became a dealer for Life Line Emergency Vehicles in Virginia.  As of 2006, we are also the Virginia dealer for Semo Tank and EJ Metals.  With the addition of these manufacturers, Keplinger Repair Service is now a one-stop solution for your department's emergency vehicle sales and service needs.

Smeal Fire Apparatus Company held its annual Dealers Meeting and Awards Banquet on March 18, 2005 at the Ameristar Hotel in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  Smeal Dealers from across the United States and Canada were in attendance.

KEPLINGER REPAIR SERVICE INC. was selected as the SERVICE CENTER OF THE YEAR by the SMEAL Fire Apparatus Company for 2004.
